condottieri (1937)

giovanni demedici, son of caterina sforza, returned from exile and after having been in the service of the malatesta, constitutes the 'bande nere' which he places at the service of the italian idea and which, in reality, are the first nucleus of national militias. tried in florence he was forced to dissolve his gangs and set up in france, where, with the help of the duke of argentiere, he reconstituted the 'bande nere' returning to florence, then headed for rome where he humiliated himself before the pope and married the woman who loves. a new war awaits him, but in the decisive battle, while defeating the opposing troops, he loses his life.
